Mimi’s love of intricate rhythms, melody, and harmony holds her heart steadfastly in the creative and passionate energy of jazz.  This Sunday’s performance will feature all of these elements with a focus on Brazilian music with special guest Brazilian-born samba maestro Guiomar Campbell.

I had the opportunity to watch the pre release of the movie Rio. fantastic production from the makers of the Ice Age series. I loved the humor, joy, colorful images and great music. It will be very successful in Toronto.

Go to the theater on April 15 and enjoy the wonderful voice cast Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jemaine Clement, Leslie Mann, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, will.i.am, Rodrigo Santoro, and Jamie Foxx. Jake T. Austin under the direction of Brazilian Carlos Saldanha. I am sure you will want to go to Rio after seen this movie.

From the makers of the hit ICE AGE series comes RIO, a comedy adventure about taking a walk on the wild side. Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly, living a comfortable life with his owner and best friend Linda in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. Blu and Linda think he‟s the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu‟s female counterpart. Not long after they arrive, Blu and Jewel are kidnapped by a group of bungling animal smugglers. With the help of street smart Jewel, and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu escapes. Now, with his new friends by his side, Blu will have to find the courage to learn to fly, thwart the kidnappers who are hot on their trail, and return to Linda, the best friend a bird ever had.

The city of Toronto will be experiencing  the First Annual Brazilian Beat Congress which will showcase Brazilian dance in Toronto including several local artists and teachers.
The event is organized by Brazil Dance World and will take place at York University, Keele Campus.
